Hi, guy’s😀 Hope you all are doing well! As you all know I am a book hoarder. So, when I received an opportunity from the Author Vibha Batra herself to write a review on her book “Glitter and Gloss” I was really excited. Misha is a makeup artist who, after a series of mishaps and twists and turns, falls madly in love with Akshay who reciprocates her love with ardor. The only hitch in this perfect romance is her prospective sister-in-law who thinks Misha is everything a Bahu shouldn’t be: garrulous, geeky, gawky, gainfully employed (especially the last bit). The questions are will Misha win Didi (and the Kha-Pee Panchayat) over with her Stepford Wife Act? Will she continue to be the poster child for the inherent evils of the Bahu Brigade? Or will she learn to ‘lau’ herself before the whole world and its wife can do the same?

Let’s start with the main character of the book “Misha” who is a makeup artist at M.A.C store in a mall. She is sorted with her biggest desire of doing Brides if we talk about her profession. In her own words ‘…There’s something so pure about doing up a bride. Making a woman look beautiful on her biggest day.’ She is blabber, chirpy, often forgets to carry her door key and disturbs the sleep of roommate Sammy who is quite helpful to her. She is going through a tough break-up when she bumps into Akshay aka Akki.

The second main character of the story is Akshay, from famous Agarwal Jewelers. Akshay is a tall, lean, handsome and successful young businessman.

The story begins when Misha bumps into Akshay at a fashion show where she is the makeup artist & Akshay is the sponsor of the show. They both end up meeting in a very hilarious way, unusual as troublemaker Misha tries to put on make-up on his face. But Akshay falls in love with her & Misha already has the butterflies in her stomach & it’s an in a win-win situation for both of them.

A twist comes up when Misha have to deal with Neelam Didi, elder sister & third parent of Akshay. A story turns really interesting at this point in time when Didi asks her to give up non-veg, job after marriage & do Yagna to remove the Dosh in her Kundli. Misha puts her every possible effort to balance her personal & professional life, and to stay in Didi’s good books when she invites trouble which makes her call off the engagement.

She has everything, her dreams, her determination to fulfill them & Akshay’s support. What she lacks is the love for herself. She realizes it & finds love as the story continues. Read the book to know how she overcomes it.
